West Palm Beach Kennel Club Poker Tournaments

The Palm Beach Kennel club has been getting a bit nicer. They are re-felting tables. Mostly locals within a 45 minute radius play here. They don't have any kind of reward system but they do have food and drinks available at a very reasonable price. They do a fair job at keeping the tables full and opening new tables when there is interest. There are nightly tournaments throughout the week which is a plus. Competition is solid. Chips are in rough shape, sometimes difficult to differentiate between the $1 and $5 chips in a pot. They are fairly close to downtown West Palm Beach which makes it easy to meet up with friends or grab a bite to eat somewhere after. They do host the only WSOP stop in Florida twice a year which generally brings in a nice crowd. The tournament room is much nicer upstairs than the cash room downstairs. Prefer to play up there if possible.

I live in West Palm but won't ever play tournaments here and instead make the long drive to the Isle or the Hard Rock or CC. PBKC lost its WSOP Circuit event so there aren't any big tournaments here any more. They have no big guarantee events at all. The folks who play here are all locals and they act like it's a private club just for them. It could be an amazing location since it's really the only spot in north Palm Beach County and could draw all the players from Jupiter on down but it is run very poorly and absolutely no effort is made to entice players. They charge for bottled water! Tournaments are held upstairs in a horrible location and often the A/C is inadequate. I've played all over the country and PBKC is pretty much the worst of the worst. Tremendous potential --- but entirely unrealized.
